LIBERTY DAY DELIVERY OF CONSTITUTIONS TO SCHOOLS

Booklets of the U.S. Constitution were delivered to all fifth graders in the Willis, Texas ISD September 16, 2011 for an early observance of Liberty Day. Teachers and principals were thrilled to get the instructional material for their students.
Booklets were delivered to A.R. Turner, Cannan, Parmley, C.C. Hardy, and Meador Elementary Schools. Involved in the deliveries were Shannon Ligon, Literacy Chairman for NSRW; Ann Kate, NSRW President; and Karen Darcy Pawlak, Vice-President of NSRW.

CARING FOR AMERICA AND LITERACY ACTIVITIES 2010-2011
CHILDREN'S SAFE HARBOR (Conroe) - Mission is to protect and enhance life of every child who has the courage to battle sexual and physical abuse. The project has been ongoing for many years. At Christmas we donate articles from their WISH LIST. Monthly snacks and drinks are provided.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY FOOD BANK - Back Packs are filled with food for needy children to take home on week-ends and holidays. We do from 3 to 4 a month during school year. At Christmas we donate $100.00.
GI CALLING CARDS - We donate prepaid phone cards for soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq to call home to talk to their wives and children.
COOLING SCARVES - We donate to purchase these for soldiers in Afghanistan to bring relief from 120 degree desert heat.
FRIENDSHIP CENTER - Bingo prizes provided monthly to Conroe and Willis centers. At Christmas we provide turkeys for "Meals on Wheels". We send $100.00 at Christmas - ongoing project. SALVATION ARMY - We send $100.00 at Christmas. Got donations of diapers to give to needy. OPERATION HELMET - Donated funds for purchasing special liners for soldiers' helmets - we had Dr. Meaders, the founder of the organization, at one of our meetings and we passed around a helmet and collected over $5,000 to give him for his project.
DICTIONARY PROJECT - Provided dictionaries for 4th grade students in Madeley School in Montgomery in 2010 and 2011.
U.S. CONSTITUTIONS – Provided to 5th graders at elementary schools in Willis.
